Establishing Operations & SD ABA in West Windsor

West Windsor is a township located in Mercer County, New Jersey, and has an estimated population of around 27,100 residents as of the 2010 census. Both West Windsor and East Windsor were established in 1797 by splitting up the original Windsor Township. The first known European activity dates back to 1634, during an exploration of Captain Thomas Young. In 2019, an online museum was created for West Windsor published by the Historical Society of West Windsor.

The function of the behavior is important to identify for several reasons, including behavior prevention, and choosing socially appropriate replacement behaviors. The four functions of behavior are sensory stimulation, escape, access to attention, and access to tangibles.

West Windsor, NJ Negative Reinforcement ABA

Sidekicks Support follows the Applied Behavior Analysis or ABA principles, which is the process of applying interventions based on the principles of learning theory to help our West Windsor clients improve their social interactions and behavior. Our ABAs will pay close attention to how our client or your child reacts to established operations and the four functions of behavior to fully understand the unique needs that they may have.

A BCBA or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst will come out to your West Windsor home and perform an assessment, paying close attention to the four functions of behavior. Based on our initial assessment, a plan will be written based on your child’s functions of behavior. Our plans include many strategies and methods such as discriminative stimulus (SD), establishing operations, and negative reinforcement to help your child. We understand that each child has a unique situation and no two children are the same. There are many different factors to consider such as the current level of functioning, individual skills, and their behavior with relation to the four functions of behavior all play a part in how the ABA will help your child. The BCBA will evaluate your child’s ABA therapist and will record how your child reacts to the different practices such as established operations. The BCBA will provide parents with support and geocaching if needed in West Windsor.
